What You Should Know

It is as important to us as it is to you to make sure that only you, and persons authorized by you, can access your accounts through any of
our do-it-yourself services, including Home Banking, Teller Phone, and ATM access. We'll do what we can, but a lot of that security depends
on you. To make sure your account information stays private:

  • Keep your PIN to yourself. Never, never give any of your PINs to anybody that you don't mean to have full access to your accounts.

  • Change your PIN occasionally. Did you
know that your Home Banking PIN can
be up to nine digits long? In the Home Banking section, you can change your
PIN anytime you want. Use something harder to guess than your birth year or address. We will send you a confirmation lettter to ensure that it was YOU who changed the PIN for your Teller Phone or Home Banking.

  • Don't allow your computer to save you PIN for you. If it fills it in for you, it will do the same thing for anyone who has access to your computer. To stop this: In Internet Explorer 5, go to options, then to Content. In the Personal Information section, look for a button entitled "Autocomplete". Click on it, and disable autocomplete of user names and passwords on forms. You may wish to clear the passwords already saved, as well. Netscape Navigator doesn't seem to save passwords, so it probably won't
    be a problem.

  • Don't allow your computer to save secure pages. If you can use the back button to see pages of Home Banking after you've pressed the "Goodbye" button, then this is an issue you should consider, especially if you use Home banking in an environment where computers are shared.

This is a browser "feature" that you can change. What your browser is doing is retrieving the pages from your hard disk. To stop this: In Internet Explorer 3.x, go to View / Options / Advanced / Cryptography Settings Verify that the "Do not save secure pages to disk" checkbox is checked. In Internet Explorer 4.x & 5.x, go to View / Internet Options / Advanced / Security / Select "Do not save encrypted pages to disk". In Netscape Navigator 3.x and earlier, go to Options / Network Preferences / Cache / Un-check the "Allow Persistent Caching of Pages Retrieved through SSL". In Netscape Navigator 4.x, there does not seem to be an option for denying persistent caching of pages.

  • Watch your statements. If you see activity on your account that you didn't do, call us.
We'll work with you to investigate it and stop any unauthorized use.
